Pokémon – Nickit – Pitch Black ME05 – 053/084 – Base Common – Near Mint is a Darkness‑type non‑foil base card from the 2026 Mega Evolution Era Pitch Black expansion. Nickit’s sly posture, neon‑charged shadow accents and corrupted‑energy shading fit perfectly into the ME05 aesthetic even without foil treatment. As a mid‑set Darkness‑type common, Nickit helps anchor the stealth‑themed portion of the ME05 binder layout. Its crisp outlines, deep color palette and sharp print clarity make it one of the most atmospheric commons in the expansion.
In tournament play, Nickit functions as a low‑cost utility Pokémon that supports early‑game setup in Darkness‑type decks. Its basic attacks are designed to chip damage, disrupt tempo, or force opponents to adjust their board state prematurely. Nickit’s retreat cost and attack sequencing make it a flexible opener in decks that rely on evolving into stronger attackers like Thievul or pairing with mid‑range Darkness threats. While not a primary attacker, Nickit’s role is to maintain early board presence and create smooth transitions into more powerful Darkness‑type strategies.
The artwork for Nickit 053/084 was illustrated by ME05 staff artist S. Takahira, who leaned heavily into the Pitch Black expansion’s corrupted‑energy theme. Takahira chose glowing shadow accents and a low‑light environment to emphasize Nickit’s stealthy nature. The neon highlights were intentionally placed to contrast the deep blacks and purples of the background, creating a sense of movement within the darkness. This stylistic direction reinforces the expansion’s narrative: even subtle, quiet Pokémon show signs of the spreading corrupted aura that defines Pitch Black.
