Consignments

Consigners Options

The sale of cards for consignment or auction face a challenge in terms of low value listings. Many cards are out of demand by collectors, and most common and base cards may not have a value sufficient to invest in listing them for sale. This may result in no sale or long selling periods for little return and failure to recover posting costs.

This site may provide you with value on consignment by a combination of a fair selling fee and a limited processing fee. The site has four basic options for consigners. Registering as a Seller and doing your own listings is the most cost effective Option (Option D). The challenge is one of which level of effort do you as a consignee wish to invest or pay for? Consignees are welcome to email Turnagain at [email protected] for a time to discuss the options and determine the alternative which is most appropriate. No insurance is provided on consigned products as they remain your property, it is for you to insure if appropriate. Your questions are welcome by email and return call form us.

Option A Basic Listings on Consignment with processing by Turnagain

Prepare an Excel Spreadsheet list of the cards for potential listing with an indication of condition in the format noted below. This listing is for review by Turnagain Collectibles Ltd. and the product acceptance will be confirmed to you after you forward this listing to [email protected]. Please register as a consigner in advance, and with your listing provide your phone number and preferred times for the confirming phone call. The confirmation of the consignment product to forward and the method for you to ship product at your cost to Turnagain will be confirmed by email. Fees for listed products are 12% on sale. After 180 days you determine if you wish the product returned at your cost of the shipping or disposed. Relisting for a second period is an option. You mist register online and agree to the user and consigner agreements.

Option B Assessment of Product Consignment by Turnagain and then selected listings

This requires you to register online and agree to the user and consigner agreements and then forward the cards to our location for assessment. A call to review consignment of part of all of your product will follow. This requires you to consider the level of shipping insurance and method of shipping to our location and to pay our limited assessment fee of $25 for the each block of 100 cards. The fee may be waived if the block is of higher value. The fee is needed to allow for the cost of assessment of listings and determine listing prices for your products. An assessment call will outline your options which include listing of cards for 12% fee on sale. Return of cards at your cost shipping, and return of restricted value or non salable cards (condition issues), or the disposal of cards are possible. After 180 days you have the option to have the cards returned by paying for shipping costs, or for unlisted or unsold cards to be disposed of without further fee. Alternatively, as second relist period may be permitted.

Option C Preclear Consignment by Photo upload

Under this option, you select a representative set of the consignment product, prepare photos of the cards and forward by email to Turnagain for discussion and review, before sending all or some of the cards to Turnagain. The Product consignment and uploading will be done by Turnagain. The fees for this approach are 12% of selling cost plus the assessment fee of $25 per 100 cards charged on sale. This requires you to register online and agree to the user and consigner agreements. After 180 days you have the option to have the cards returned by paying for shipping costs or for unlisted or unsold cards to be disposed of without further fee. Alternatively, as second relist period may be permitted.

Option D Revert to Seller Status and Upload cards for sale

Under this option, the fees drop to 8% or even 5% on higher value cards as noted in the Sellers section and Addendum to the Users Agreement and policies. You can participate under the Sellers Program by registering online and agreeing to the User and Seller Agreements as noted in the Sellers Section of this site and then entering the cards on the site and managing the sales.

We encourage you to review the linked Consignment Outline, the Users Agreement and the Consignment Addendum to that Agreement.

Consigners Outline

  1. Objectives
    a. This is an alternative selling site for cards that is non-exclusive, has fair fees and fair business practices for consignment vendors. The goal is to provide consigners with an alternative to high cost sites.
    b. The site for consigners is primarily for Canadian or like vendors of cards and collectibles, acting on a fair sale process with limited site conditions and for a limited fee level. The listings are valid for 180 days and extendable and store or listing fees are not applied.
    c. It is a non-corporate process with reasonable dispute resolution, that follows the policies and procedures to limit gamesmanship, counterfeits, fraud or unethical practices.
    d. Consigners and sellers are not an insurance company nor an unlimited warrantee provider.
  2. Basis
    a. This is a limited development platform seeking sufficient buyers, consigners and sellers to provide a margin to sellers to continue to supply the demand for cards and collectibles.
    b. The limited fee to you program, (see current fees in Consigners’ Fees Policy), should enable lower margin products to be sold for value. The fee calculation avoids inclusion of shipping costs and taxes as a part of the fee. The fees are not multiple levels and fair for the program. The fee for recovery of transaction bank or credit card fees do not cover all costs, nor do the shipping and taxes charged to buyers necessarily cover all costs.
    c. Resolution of challenges is by email outline followed by phone resolution first.
    d. This market is not all things to all parties, it is a development market to enable limited fees sales.
  3. Limitations
    a. The initial market will require time to develop, the goal is longer term for all parties.
    b. The format is near Co-operative, that is to compete in acquiring buyers, consigners and sellers, the sellers must assist in the marketing with their contacts, such as referrals to the site.
    c. The timeliness of shipping is to meet the Canadian standards. These are less speedy than comparable US delivery, this reality is not a failure as no seller is the delivery party.
    d. The cost of payment processing is partially supported by the fee for simplicity.
    e. Buyers are responsible for the selection of shipping, tracking and insurance. They must adhere to the terms related to their choice and not an overreaching policy.
  4. Consigner’s Role and Responsibilities
    a. List accurately or provide listing of product to standard. Follow process outlined for listing.
    b. Respond timely to sales, shipping, product challenges and queries.
    c. Registration means review of the User’s contract, adherence to it, and sign off on it.
    d. Registration means review of the Consigner’s contract, adherence to it, and sign off on it.
    e. The resolution of challenges is first by phone, the process is either fair or will fail.
